Head key committee

If you have locked yourself out of your room then you have the option to contact the head key council. They can help in letting you into your room. You can find the members of the head key counsil on the VIP-list. Here is a list of individuals that can give you access to your room.

Avoid writing on the dormitory’s Facebook group. You have to go out and knock on doors. If no one opens, then accept that fact.

  1. Double check that you don’t have the key in your hand or in a hidden pocket of your jacket. Is it in your kitchen that you have locked yourself out of then knock on one of your neighbours’ doors to see if anyone is home.
  2. If you strike out on point 1 then contact the head key committee. You’ll find them on the VIP-list. Remember to try both their kitchen and room. Notice the terms of being let back into your room below.
  3. Is it a weekday between 6 and 15 then you can probably find the inspector. Look for him or his helper.
  4. If you have tried knocking on doors multiple times with the head key committee and no one is home, then you can find the chairman of the residents board. See who it is on the VIP-list.
  5. If you can’t get in touch with the head key committee or the chairman of the board then you have two options: Wait until someone gets home and knock on their door and start from point 2 or contact a locksmith and pay out of your own pocket.

Tip: Consider whether or not you can unlock your door when you get home.

Remember that the head key committee is a voluntary service. If you can’t get in contact with anyone on the committee then call a locksmith. 24 hour phone service 44 99 99 44. Indicative price is about 500 kr.

Terms

To be let in by a head key person, there are some guidelines that needs to be fulfilled:

  • After being let in you have to produce valid picture ID with address or a lease proving you are a tenant of the room/apartment.
  • If you are a family member to a resident you have to produce a letter of procuration as well as lease.

It costs 20 kr. to be let in during day hours (kl. 08.00 – 22.00).
It costs 50 kr. to be let in late in the evening/night hours (kl. 22.00 – 08.00).
The money is paid to the head key person letting you in.

If you lock yourself during the day hours, it is possible for the inspector to help. The office is normally open from 06.30 – 07.30 and 12.00 – 13.00 in room 99.

If everything above fails then contact a locksmith. Though there can be instances where it is important to get into your room. Then try, as a last resort, the chairman of the residents board.

About the committee

The committee’s members are voted in at Residents meetings. The members has the key to all the dorm’s rooms. In other words they are the dormitory’s key service and have its head key.
